Last night, I walked down Market Street, passing the Convention Center and City Hall on my way to the monthly Amnesty International meeting at Rittenhouse Square. Where we always talk about human rights and taking care of refugees and the poor, and lobbying for wars and executions to stop. Is that what the Vatican wants? I hope so. Certainly looks like Pope Francis wants all the things we want.
The Pope is coming to Philadelphia, and Center City is off limits to the unscreened, and a section around the Art Museum is only accessible by ticket.
Philadelphia is certainly ready, flags welcoming the Pope line Market Street, Philadelphia City Hall is closed until after the Pope leaves. Over its entrances, 4, through arches, are big pictures of Pope Francis and yellow buttons are on its walls, welcoming the World Gathering of Families.
The streets of Philadelphia looked emptied of the usual pedestrians, I mostly saw folks with green lanyards & clear Knight of Columbus
backpacks.

The Rev Zemoria Brandon was the wife of a Christian minister who lived to middle age with sickle cell disease, and started a non-profit to give resources to those with sickle celll disease and those who are like her who have or had relatives living with the disease, click here.
