Artist Omenihu Amachi
American artist Mr Omenihu Amachi lives in Philadelphia with his family and his paintings.

His wife Patricia Amachi is a great cook, when the artist and his wife have welcomed me into their house, she has been cooking and she has fed me. I saw her cooking all night, and she got up early to cook, and the food was part of a feast at St Cyprian's Roman Catholic Church Nigerian Christmas party.

Scroll down for pictures of the family, and the artists and below that, for pictures that the artists will sell you. Prices range from $100 to $5,000, depending on the size of the painting.

Mr Amachi is an American artist and broadcaster who lives and works in Philadelphia.

He was a little boy caught in a civil war that ravaged th east of Nigeria, the Biafran War. More on Biafra, click here.

He came to the United States and trained as an artist and broadcaster, and has for more than 2 decades worked in New York and Philadelphia. And painted.

I met him at a celebration at St Cyprian's Roman Catholic Church in Philadelphia. He was quiet and polite, and he told me he was an artist. He sent me the link to his virtual studio, and it made my day! I visited him in his studio, and photographed a few of his paintings.

The one that grabbed my heart immediately was the picture of the woman feeding the villagers, his testament to the hope and love that was shown by the victims inside Biafra, who had escaped genocide and now faced starvation. His painting shows how beautiful is the human spirit, how faith and hope can overcome adversity, even as around them, many were dying. You can see the painting and listen to the artist talk about it on this site, click here.

All pictures shown on his website and on his art gallery page are for sale.
