2012 gone, 2013 here SJ Dodgson MJoTA v5n2 p1231
As I write this, 2013 is already here in Samoa, in New Zealand, in Australia, in Malaysia, in North Korea and South Korea.
New Years Resolution #1: feature Asian countries more prominently in 2013, because we all came from Africa and all the industry, hard work, inventions, flashes of genius and good looks came originally from Africa. They did, and anthropologists keep turning up more and more evidence.
I was born in England to British parents, which makes me inconsolably British, which is a great beginning for anyone who likes tea and fish and chips. Yep. That is me.
But it is also a great beginning for anyone who likes giving awards. The Queen of England out-does herself every year giving out knight-hoods (for men) and dame-hoods (for women): taking the lead from her majesty, as the publisher of MJoTA and MJoTAtalks, following is the MJoTA awards list.
The highest MJoTA accolade is the MJoTA Boomerang, because investment in good ideas and hard work come back to build strong children and strong families and strong nations.
MJoTA Boomerang for country of the year is Samoa: because it is so cool.
Samoa is self-governing, and self-governing well. Samoans looked at where they are, in the South Pacific, close to the American colony nation known as American Samoa, and who is their main trading partner: New Zealand. After independence from the UK, the leaders didn't sit on their hands and accept gifts for their children and wives so that the UK could continue to exploit their country. They decided to change how they drive, from the American left of the road to the New Zealand right of the road, and they jumped a whole day ahead to be in line with New Zealand time, not Hawaiian time. Which is why Samoa is the first to greet the new day, the new year, every new year. I love Samoa.
MJoTA Boomerang for African news source of the year is African Spotlight, which is run by the energetic professional journalist and film-maker Mrs Adeola Fayehun.
MJoTA Boomerang for health professional of the year is Dr Althea Hankins, who is the medical director of an internal medicine practice in the Philadelphia area known as Germantown, and also the CEO of the Aces Museum which is housed in the same building as her medical practice.
