Bracket in concert at annual ACANA festival in Philadelphia. SJ Dodgson. MJoTA 2012 v6n2 p0806.
Bracket
is a 2-man group from Nigeria whose major hit has been "Yori Yori"
which you can listen to on this page. I have fond memories of hanging
out at the African Cultural Center at Sierra Leonean events while "Yori
Yori" played. In fact, every African event I have been to in the last 2
years has played this song. Bracket is big, huge, and the minute they
appeared near the stage, they were photographed, mobbed.
The
occasion was the annual African festival put on by ACANA (African
Cultural Alliance of North America) which is a non-profit group in South
West Philadelphia led since 2005 by Voffee Jabateh MSW, who is
Liberian.
These pictures I took from the minute I spied Bracket
until a tropical downpour stopped the concert completely when the entire
audience ran for cover. The big video of the concert, if you look closely you can see me taking photos to the left of the screen: I am wearing a flowing turquoise skirt.
My goodness, Bracket, are they great!! Enjoy the videos!
