Uruguay is bordered by Argentina to its west and Brazil to its north and east, with the Atlantic Ocean to the south and southeast. Uruguay is home to 3.3 million, where 1.8 million live in Montevideo.
Uruguay is the second-smallest nation in South America. Suriname is the smallest.Uruguay is a democratic constitutional republic: its president is head of state and head of government. It is ranked first in South America in democracy, peace, quality of living, press freedom, prosperity and security.
It also has the coolest president in the world. Watch the videos. He lives in his own humble house, he waits in line for services, and he is the president of the only country in the world that would accept 6 Guantanimo Bay prisoners, who had never been charged with a crime, and had been ordered released in 2009, 5 years before they were released. Uruguay insisted the prisoners be released from all chains, blindfolds, everything, so they would step on Uruguayan soil free men. Which they did, to cheers and job offers.
