1. On Venus, a day is longer than a year. A day on Venus is as long as 243 Earth days (the time it takes for Venus to rotate or spin once). Venus makes a complete orbit around the sun (a year in Venus time) in 225 Earth days.

2. Venus is a terrestrial planet. Venus' solid surface is a cratered and volcanic landscape.

3. Venus' thick and toxic atmosphere is made up mostly of carbon dioxide (COO) and nitrogen (NN), with clouds of sulfuric acid (HHSOOOO) droplets.

4. Venus has no moons.

5. No rings around Venus.

6. More than 40 spacecraft have explored Venus. The Magellan mission in the early 1990s mapped 98 percent of the planet's surface.

7. No evidence for life has been found on Venus. The planet's extreme high temperatures are almost 480oC (900oF).

8. Venus spins backwards: retrograde rotation. The sun rises in the west and sets in the east on Venus.

Venus. SJ Dodgson MJoTA 2014 v8n1 p0121.

I find myself reaching for the stars. Looking far over the heads of the Syrian Government and the Syrian Revolution; over the heads of the governments of 34 African nations that have passed laws criminalizing the ability to love and need to hold of men who love men; far over the oceans and the air that are threatening to drown us all with our sorry petty squabbles that cover so many of our children with bullet holes and tears.

Ah, Venus. Named after the goddess of love. Our closest neighboring planet.

Jesus told us we must be kind to each other. We must love each other. Every each other. No exceptions.

Shame on you religious leaders who support divide and conquer tactics against your own flesh and blood.
