New York City Mayor 2014

Congratulations Mayor de Blasio. SJ Dodgson MJoTA 2014 v8n1 p0101

For the greatest city on earth, the most democratic and Democratic of all cities, a new mayor was sworn in front of his home in Brooklyn, one minute after midnight on Jan 01, 2014, Bill de Blasio, in front of his wife and son and daughter and everyone in the world who could access streaming video. I took these screenshots from the streaming video. Congratulations Mr de Blasio!

Shots taken at New York City Hall during the ceremonial inauguration of Mayor de Blasio which started 12 hours later, Controller Scott Stringer and Public Advocate Letitia James, I took screen shots from streaming video. A lot of familiar faces: Harry Belafonte, Mayor Bloomberg, President Clinton, Secretary Clinton, Governor Cuomo, Cynthia Nixon.

Top picture, the first family as they arrived at the ceremony. Yes, that man in a cap is Harry Belafonte, who spoke during the inauguration.

Speakers all sounded like they were participating in a civil rights rally. I have not posted videos from the inauguration; all the ones I have found had all the stuffing edited out of them. Instead, I have posted videos of Mayor de Blasio speaking previously, and of Councilmember Jumaane Williams endorsing him.
