Uganda at 50 in NYU. SJ Dodgson. MJoTA 2012 v5n1 p1009
Above,
picture of son of Uganda, Black Star newspaper publisher, Mr Milton
Allimadi, addressing the audience of the Center for
Human Rights and Global Justice at New York University Wagner at the Puck Building.
Mr Allimadi spoke on Tuesday Oct 9, 2012, and the 50th anniversary of Uganda being its own
nation. THree days later at the Constitution Center and 4 days later at New Convenant Chucrh in Germantown, I celebrated Uganda at 50 in Philadelphia with cool
Ugandans.
According
to Mr Allimadi, a lot of Ugandans are not cool; and he is particularly
incensed by a video called KONY2012. He sees this video as perpetrating a
lie and blaming murders, rapes, disfigurements on a man called Joseph
Kony.
He says publicly, and I have heard him twice, that the atrocities are committed by the current government of Uganda and Joseph Kony, a former mass murderer and genuinely evil person, is a convenient scapegoat. I am hoping to get a written statement from him to publish, or republish.
MJoTA does not take sides, but welcomes discussion and openness. As MJoTA publisher, I am constantly, daily, upset by the ongoing exploitation of African countries and the ongoing bad press about the magnificent sons and daughters of Africa and the Caribbean.
