Police in Pretoria and Johannesburg
Elevator version of the story of the imprisonment of the Congolese 20 on the lies of South African undercover police officersMJoTA 2013 v7n1 p0610

Etienne Kabila, the brother of the president of Congo, has been caught in a trap that was set with the goal of him being sent back to Congo to be shot as a traitor.

South African undercover police scammed and kidnapped 19 men, who were on Feb 4 arrested by uniformed South African police; and with fabricated evidence, used international media to get the 20th man, Etienne Kabila, to give himself up.

The South African undercover police caught 18 of these men in this trap, with promises of government contracts to train as and work as anti-rhino poaching security guards. The 19th man is an American-Congolese, James Kazongo, who flew from Delaware to substitute to Etienne Kabila.

The Congolese 20 are being abused in prison. I visited them in Pretoria Central Prison on May 21 and May 28.

James Kazongo was attacked in his cell by 3 guards on May 22, and beaten so savagely his leg was broken. The food is inedible, James is severely vitamin deficient and has already lost more than 30% of his normal weight.

Robbed at gunpoint in Johannesburg on the Sunday afternoon at the winter solstice. Ezekiel Muta. MJoTA 2013 v7n1 p0624

Getting robbed at the parking of a five-star hotel, in an up-market area of a major city, and right inside a tour van is not something one would have expected, but this is the ordeal that greeted me and my colleagues from the Media Council of Kenya on arrival in Jo'burg at exactly 1pm on Sunday.

And this in broad daylight at exactly 1pm local time!

But God is great no one was harmed though we lost everything - passports, money, jewels, visa cards, phones, ipads and all. Courtesy of our host - the Press Council of SA and our High Commissioner here Ambassador Wamoto, we have temporary travel documents and are able to carry on with our duties here as detectives do their job. The story of our lives!

DrS: Mr Muta is communications officer for the government of Kenya. Which makes this robbery even more shocking.

South African police: keeping the country secure or targeting citizens, refugees and visitors for abuse? MJoTA 2013 v7n1 p0613

On the highway from Pretoria to Johannesburg, after visiting Pretoria Central prison the first time, the car I was travelling in was stopped by police. In the car with me was a wife and baby of the Congolese 20, a Congolese gospel singer, a brother of 2 of the Congolese 20 and a Congolese pastor.

Nothing was out of order, it was a stop by police to steal from motorists. The pastor talked his way out of it, I did my bit by staring expressionless at the police officer.

This kind of nonsense I have observed several times in Nigeria, and in Kenya and Sierra Leone.

This kind of nonsense occurs where rules and laws are only to keep the population down, intimidated and poor. In South Africa! After all South Africa went through. Broke my heart. But explained clearly how South African undercover police were able to cause chaos in the lives of 20 Congolese refigee families.
