Bed Stuy Vollies runs on shoestrings and prayers: entirely funded by donations from kind-hearted people. We are trying to get a team of Bed Stuy Vollies to search the ares where Jamal was last seen, to knock on doors, to put up flyers. They need money for bus fares, please donate a few dollars to them. Either send them a check to their HQ in Brooklyn, or hand them cash or pay a bill.

Seeking Jamal Robinson

Bed Stuy Vollies EMT Jamal Robinson is 33, 5'6", 130 lb. Jamal was last seen by his mother running into the woods in Forked River New Jersey on Oct 26, 2013. On Nov 14, 2013, Lacey Township police reported seeing him on Nov 13, 2013.

Jamal has a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, was not taking medication when he was last seen, and likes to wander in woods, which he was doing in October, going frequently to a local church for food. He has tattoos on his neck and left arm.

If you have seen him, or know anything about him, or want to help search for him, or donate services, cash, transport to Bed Stuy Vollies to search, please call Commander Robinson 1-917-567-9634.

Seeking Bed Stuy Vollies EMT Jamal Robinson. SJ Dodgson MJoTA 2013 v7n2 p1113

In 1988, fireman Rocky Robinson and a friend ran on foot with EMT supplies to fill a void: ambulances were not going into the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn and the humans were dying of treatable diseases and injuries because they could not get emergency treatment.

In the 25 years since then, Commander Robinson has trained and led EMTs and the Bed Stuy Vollies have given fee service to thousands in the community.

The Commander will tell you that Bed Stuy Vollies is about second chances, third chances, twentieth chances. He and his Bed Stuy Vollies sell hotdogs, fried fish, do anything they can to keep going, keep going to help the sick, keep training EMTs. Because once an EMT is trained, he or she has a badge and a profession and is employable. And the Commander sees his main function is to get people jobs: because jobs give hope and give futures.
The Commander is all about family: he has 19 children, many are Bed Stuy Vollies and all are associated in some way with the Ambulance Corps. He will tell you that we are all family, once anyone is associated with the Corps, we are family. I am family.

One of my family members is missing. Jamal Robinson is seen above with the Commander, his father, in a picture I copied from the Bed Stuy Vollies website. Below is a picture of him that the family is circulating, when he was a member of the United States Navy.

The statement from Bed Stuy Vollies:

"Jamel Robinson is a United States Navy veteran who was discharged with a bipolar condition. He's about wandering the Jersey Shore in the woods of New Jersey. He has been missing" since Oct 27 "we are hoping he is not dead. We need everyone's help. If you find this young man please call the police... He is a member of Dash to Save a Life Rescue Squad"
